What will the client experience be like if we work together?

A key part of our work with clients is helping them understand investing and how daily news can affect their portfolios. We focus on clear, practical communication so you can stay informed without getting overwhelmed by constant headlines.

At the beginning of each month, we send a video recap covering the past 30 days in the economy and markets, along with what those developments may mean for you.

Mid-month, we send a newsletter highlighting any important updates or market events that have happened since the video recap.

Our goal is to help you know what matters, what to watch, and what to tune out. With so much noise around investing, we aim to provide perspective, clarity, and guidance you can trust.

How often do you meet with clients?

Every client relationship is different, so there is no standard meeting schedule. We tailor our meeting frequency to your needs and remain available when questions or changes arise that call for guidance.

Some clients meet with us several times throughout the year. Others may only need one meeting annually. At a minimum, we ask every client to meet with us once a year to review progress and update the financial plan.

How do you get paid?

We are fee-only advisors, which means our compensation comes from a clearly defined fee based on the assets we manage on your behalf.

Our fee is calculated as a percentage of the assets we manage for you and deducted directly from the account.

We do not earn commissions based on the number or type of transactions in your account.

We believe this structure keeps our interests aligned with yours. Rather than being paid to make trades, we are compensated for helping you build and manage a portfolio designed to support your long-term goals. As your assets grow, we grow with you—and if your portfolio declines, our compensation declines as well.  We want to be sitting on the same side of the table with you, not across from you.

How do we get started?

You can contact us in whichever way is most convenient for you. Contact us today by calling (317) 868-7100.

We’ll begin with an initial consultation to learn more about your current circumstances, your goals, and whether we are a good fit for each other.

If we decide to work together, we’ll gather detailed information to build your financial plan. This includes understanding your income and expenses, current investments, assets and liabilities, and important goals such as retirement or major purchases.

From there, we’ll create a personalized roadmap and investment strategy designed to help you move toward those goals with confidence.

What is a Financial Plan?

At Indy Wealth Advisors, we believe a well-designed financial plan gives you clarity, confidence, and direction as you navigate life’s financial decisions. Our planning process starts with a thorough review of your current situation, including your income, expenses, assets, liabilities, and insurance coverage. From there, we create a personalized roadmap that addresses both your immediate priorities and your long-term goals.

How does a Financial Plan help me?

Financial plans determine how much you should save and which types of accounts best fit your goals and prioritize which debts to pay down first.

Additionally, they estimate how much income you may need in retirement, identify where that income can come from, and help you make decisions with tax efficiency in mind.

A strong financial plan serves as the foundation of holistic wealth management. It helps ensure that each decision is guided by purpose, giving you a stable framework to build, preserve, and enjoy your wealth through every stage of life.

What is your investment philosophy?

We will build a portfolio of low-cost funds that match up with your risk tolerance, time horizon and liquidity needs, and then we give that portfolio the time it needs to work on your behalf. We will not be making trades in your account simply to look like we are being active. Every move we make will be for a purpose.

We believe that time in the market trumps timing the market. The biggest mistake we see investors make is to react to every up and down in the market, so we do our best to educate our clients on the impact of simply staying invested and giving your portfolio the time it needs to grow.

And finally, we believe that market drops are not risks, but opportunities. In the rear view mirror, every major market drop now looks like an opportunity to have purchased great companies at bargain prices.  But most people view all future market downturns simply as risks. At Indy Wealth Advisors, we view the inevitable future market drops the same way we view the previous ones….as opportunities for our clients. We will always maintain liquidity in our clients’ long-term growth accounts so that when the stock market goes on sale, we are able to take advantage.

Do you have a minimum to get started?

In short, yes.  While we regularly give basic advice to investors who are just getting started, we only take on as full clients those who have at least $100,000 of investable assets.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes. We are held to the Fiduciary Standard in all of our fee-based relationships. But not all financial advisors are fiduciaries. It is important to know the difference between the two primary standards of care:

The Fiduciary Standard: Fiduciary advisors are legally required to act in your best interest at all times. That means they must prioritize your financial goals, risk profile, and needs above any compensation or sales incentives they may receive.

The Suitability Standard: Applies to many brokers and non-fiduciary advisors. They are only required to recommend investments that are "suitable" for your financial situation, even if a different product would be more beneficial to you.

What is LPL?

LPL Financial Holdings Inc. is among the fastest growing wealth management firms in the U.S. LPL supports more than 32,000 independent financial advisors servicing and custodying approximately $2.3 trillion in brokerage and advisory assets on behalf of approximately 8 million Americans. The firm provides a wide range of advisor affiliation models, investment solutions, fintech tools and practice management services, ensuring their advisors have the flexibility to choose the business model, services, and technology resources they need to run thriving businesses.

Because LPL affiliated advisors operate as independent businesses, LPL is separate from the advisor’s specific practice. The specific investment advice you receive comes directly from your advisor, not LPL.

In short, LPL Financial provides Indy Wealth Advisors the tools and technology to execute our business model and help our clients pursue their financial goals.
